Julie tells the story of two sisters travelling through their mother’s country towards Docker River in the Northern Territory. They stopped at Ilkuwaratjara and cut a wana (digging stick).

The punu (wood) was really straight. The little sister was getting homesick, but the older sister said, no, I’ll take you to your family.

Along the way, they dug for kuka (meat, e.g. from goannas) and niny (bilby). They found kuka and were happy with the good meal. The U-shapes represent the sisters.

Beside them are their wana, or digging sticks.
The circles represent rocks or waterholes where water collects after rains.
