Australia's favorite sauce was born in 1906, when the firm W. C. Douglass, a food wholesaler based in Sydney, began producing Fountain tomato sauce at its factories on Goodlet Street in Surry Hills, NSW.
The growing popularity of Fountain tomato sauce was fueled in the 1950s and 1960s by the introduction of the variety range in the iconic poodle bottle, which can still be found on supermarket shelves today. In 1964, Cerebos acquired the W. C. Douglass company.
