Manuka Honey is a monofloral honey derived from Leptospermum polygalifolium - the Manuka plant. Did you know that the Manuka plant is native to both Australia and New Zealand, even though it is traditionally considered a New Zealand product?
Manuka flowers contain a high concentration of a natural substance called Methylglyoxal (MGO). MGO is scientifically proven to have a broad spectrum of antimicrobial properties and has been used for centuries as traditional medicine because it is safe and effective. Today it is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory support, for wound and skin care, and for the immune system, digestive balance, general health and well-being.
Nature's Way Manuka Honey measures antibacterial effectiveness or bioactivity using the internationally recognized standard and TGA accepted MGO rating system. Only honey with an MGO value of 100 or more can be called bioactive. The higher the MGO rating, the higher the bioactivity of the honey.
