This story is about Yilpi's grandfather and the hailstorm that took his life. As a young man, he was headstrong and did not listen to the elders who warned of a great storm.

He went hunting before the storm. He also wanted to perform a ceremonial dance to ward off the storm. He took the ceremonial dancing sticks with him, but did not return. The rest of the clan hid in the caves to await the storm, and afterwards the women went looking for the man, but could not find him.

In another part of the country, the children were gathering bush fruits and swimming in the freshly filled rock pools. Quite by chance, they stumbled upon the young man's body. He had died during the storm.

This story is told to children to teach them the importance of listening to their elders.
