The Asian yuzu fruit, which looks like small grapefruits, was the inspiration for several Japanese gins aiming to preserve its delicious sweet, sour, and bitter flavors in harmony with the freshness of juniper.
This is not the first time Four Pillars has experimented with this fruit. In 2017, a limited edition was launched in collaboration with Japan's Kyoto Distillery. This was followed in 2019 by the Distiller Series Changing Seasons Gin, also produced with the help of Kyoto Distillery.
As of 2022, Four Pillars will incorporate Fresh Yuzu Gin as a permanent fixture in its core range.
Drink it as you prefer to drink your favorite gin, but it tastes best in a highball with plenty of ice, soda or light tonic, and a citrus garnish (preferably freshly squeezed yuzu, if you can find it!).
